Hold on... but not just on page one, you want to be in the number one position on page one. But what about positions you ask. Site optimization - Now don't start getting all nervous on me. I simply mean the look and feel of your site. Your site needs to look credible and be useful for your visitors as well as the search engines. So you need to take factors like, structure and design into consideration. Can your viewers easily find the content that they need? Is the site relevant to the keywords and phrases in your particular niche? Does the site look clean and professional or dated? What about the layout? Is it good and does it make sense?

See, that wasn't so difficult to get through, was it? Think of it this way, if you were a visitor coming to your site would you stay long enough to read the information and possibly buy the product? That should help you answer the questions above.

Remember, search engines give high-ranking to sites that are user-friendly and relevant to the services and products that they're offering.

Frequent updates - As a newbie content should be updated on a regular basis. Keep a schedule of the updates, regarding how many, how often and at what times. This will help you to be consistent. Search engines loves to see fresh content regularly on websites and will reward you with higher rankings for years and years.

Understand what the searcher is looking for- The main goal of the search engines is to return pages to the users which give them exactly what they're looking for. So if you have a site in the gardening niche and you're selling sunflower seeds when a searcher comes to your site they shouldn't see you selling poppy seeds.

As a newbie, your site and content must be relevant to your niche. If not you're going to have a long uphill battle when it come to SEO. Not trying to scare you here, just telling you the truth.

Does all of this sound beyond your capabilities? It need not be. SEO does not have to be the scary monster most people make it out to be. It can be quite simple if you follow certain principles and guidelines.
